IMS2012 International Microwave Symposium

Women in Microwaves Reception Report

The reception in honor of women who choose to pursue their career in microwave engineering was held on Tuesday, June 19, 5:30pm – 7:30pm, at the Restaurant-Café L’Arrivage, on the top floor of the Museum of Archeology and History of Montreal. The museum is located on the waterfront of the old city, and the reception venue offered the visitors a spectacular view of the Montreal harbor.

The event went splendidly well.  Among around 100 visitors, more than one-third were women. Except for the brief welcome from the chair, there were no formal speeches and the relaxed atmosphere fostered lively chats and professional networking. In the lovely window-walled venue, Capucine caterer produced a palette of tasty and imaginatively presented bite-size canapés, savory and sweet! They were accompanied by an excellent selection of drinks. The first ten guests to arrive were offered free pairs of entrance tickets, courtesy of the museum. As a parting gift, all those who visited the reception left armed with a mini-box of chocolates packaged artfully in boxes which displayed the logo of the event. These treats, and the boxes designed for the occasion, came from the local Montreal chocolate artisan, Chocolatier Suite 88. In brief and as illustrated by the enclosed photographs: with tasty food and good drink, and above all, in outstanding company - good time was had by all!
